A reality singing competition to find America's next singing superstar.
Hopeful contestants from across America audition in front of a panel of celebrity judges in hopes of making the shortlist to sing for audience votes.
Once the top group of hopefuls are chosen, they sing in a selected genre each week, and the contestant with the lowest number of votes is sent home.
The eventual winner is crowned the "American Idol".

I have never been so excited to hear of a POS show being cancelled. Now if we could just get rid of the Kardashians and (whatever his name is) Knows Best. How do these shows get on TV?

Pointless show. It just makes people waste their time watching some people who think they can sing, it seems like every tv show a days is either a dateing show, a reality show about a family who is messed up some how or some singing comp.

i am so glad this show is going off. i stop watching this crap after they cut the best black singers. i am tired of ryan seacreast. good nite and good riddance.

IDOL THAT SEEMS TO BE THE OPERATIVE WORD FOR THESE SO CALLED TALENTED SINGERS .THEY NEED A LOT MORE WORK.

American idol changed when the three original judges changed it was a lot better with paula simon and randy the others are just not the same the show was over for me after the original judges left

I agree with the comment above. Have watched this show for ten years. Would rather watch paint dry than be exposed to this show. As far as I am concerned this show is like George Washington....HISTORY

Why are these two "women" in this show. They add nothing but an annoying voice and way too much cleavage. Wish Jennifer Lopez and Stephen Tyler would have picked it up for another year.
