A mystery drama following the investigation into the death of a young boy.

In this 10-episode mystery series based on U.K.'s Broadchurch, a young boy is found dead on a beach in a small California town. When it is deemed a homicide, a major investigation takes place that throws the boy's family into turmoil and sparks a media frenzy.

Detective Emmett Carver has just arrived in Gracepoint and takes lead on the investigation, joined by Detective Ellie Miller. Together they work to piece together what happened on the night of Danny's death.

What's wrong with introducing a foreign film to Americans if it is good? It is better they remake the show to introduce it to us because we couldn't sit through that British accent too long.

I must say I was somewhat skeptic about this. Having enjoy the british Broadchurch I was sure they will mess it up. So far I have watched 2 episodes; still on the fence about it because it is an exact copy, almost frame by frame. The similarities are scary, specially on the scenes at the police headquarters.
Still I think I will watch just to see if the copy it all the way up to the murderer.
This show is a solid 7.

Simply awful. Why bother re-making a great UK show in a US setting. Why on earth is a Scotsman trying to do a bad american accent anyway. Go and buy a copy of the original show Broadchurch instead.

I think show producers remake a good series because it's LESS risk. They probably believe quality begets more quality, genetics or something.
Personally, I'm not willing to sit through another slow, stretched-out season of constant mournful looks and hair-pulling anguish. Like in "The Killing".

Not only are they basically re-making Broadchurch (in some cases, almost scene for scene) but they are using David Tennant in the lead role (albeit with an Americanized accent).
Why? If the British series was so excellent, why risk disastrous comparisons by re-making it? Better to pick a foreign show with so-so ratings and try for an improved version in the USA.
