Production has been shut down on the struggling new cop drama.
November 16, 2011
NBC has finally pulled the plug on its low-rated freshman drama Prime Suspect. The series has struggled to find an audience since premiering in September, and after it was left off the network's midseason schedule earlier this week, the writing was on the wall. Word is now that production has now been shut down completely.
NBC did its best to boost Prime Suspect's viewership, airing a large amount of promo spots for the show and even airing repeats in the prime time slot of cancelled series The Playboy Club. Ratings, however, did not improve.
It is being reported that all 13 episodes that were produced will air, although it is not known if NBC will keep the show in its current Thursday night time slot. Six new episodes remain in Prime Suspect's first and final season.

This series was doomed from the beginning. No filth or bloody gore, not to mention a gang of morons like on reality TV.

Now I can return to acting like NBC does not exist! Hoping that cable picks up Prime Suspect.

Everytime NBC broadcast's a show that I love and enjoy they cancell it then I'm left watching the remainding crap that they should cancell.I admit when I first saw the Promos for Prime Suspect that I wasn't sure I'd like it or not but once I watched it I was hooked.Chase was another great show that those dum dums cancelled that on me.I watch CBS a lot more than any other regular channel cause the only stupid show's they got are How I Met Your Mother and Two and a Half Men!Thanx NBC for ruining my night as I just found out that once again you toke a great show away from me and other fans of Prime! I'll stick to CBS which is the Number 1 Network on regular tv!!

So Sad! I enjoyed this. I think its a bad decision to cancell. Maria Bello kicked butt!

My wife and I loved and watched this show every week. We are busy like EVERYONE else, so we DVR it and watch it Saturday night. There is NO show that has a strong intelligent female character who must struggle in a male dominant society anymore. Maria bello was great. We loved how she proved the men wrong, solved cases and gained the respect of her male counterparts. Honesty NBC is this WRONG??? Let me tell you what the problem is... NBC and other networks have failed to adjust their criteria for ratings. You have to! Society has changed! We no longer sit all day and watch television. We no longer eat out more than twice a week. People change, so should your standards for what makes a good show! Everyone knows the Neilson Ratings is old and archaic. Its time to make a change and be happy with it. We are a new society.

this show had great scripts, actors are stellar. It's one of the most intelligent gripping shows on mainstream tv. NBC execs clearly don't have the courage to give this show the chance it deserves.,or the intelligence to recognize a winner when they see one.

I simply must agree with all of the above comments. I was shocked to learn Prime Suspect was being cancelled. It is sincerely a wonderful show. What is wrong with people? Not everyone wants to see filth and/or petty reality TV shows. This is just absurd!!!

Do ANY of the NBC execs actually watch this show? It is one of the best shows I've ever watched. Maybe it's being cancelled because it is so far above the usual NBC standard that it makes the rest look like the crap it really is. How can I contact USA to pick up the series? Jane would fit very well in their list of characters.

Of course it's cancelled. It is on regular network TV. The big 3 all cancel shows before they have a time to develop a following. Nothing else to be said.
