Production has been shut down on the struggling new cop drama.
November 16, 2011
NBC has finally pulled the plug on its low-rated freshman drama Prime Suspect. The series has struggled to find an audience since premiering in September, and after it was left off the network's midseason schedule earlier this week, the writing was on the wall. Word is now that production has now been shut down completely.
NBC did its best to boost Prime Suspect's viewership, airing a large amount of promo spots for the show and even airing repeats in the prime time slot of cancelled series The Playboy Club. Ratings, however, did not improve.
It is being reported that all 13 episodes that were produced will air, although it is not known if NBC will keep the show in its current Thursday night time slot. Six new episodes remain in Prime Suspect's first and final season.

Well, it won't do me any good to repeat everyone's comments. I wholeheartedly agree that Prime Suspect is a great show and should not be cancelled. Please give it more time. NBC.

It's really a shame that NBC pulls the plug on last season's "Law & Order LA" and bets on " Prime Suspect" to give them ratings.Sorry NBC but Dick Wolf gets the last laugh.

I want to apologize to Maria Bello and the rest of the cast . . . for NBC's inability to see the prospects in such a brilliant show and cast.
Too bad. I guess I'll have room on my DVR for more of the garbage that SHOULD be going off.

Them idiots. Anytime an intelligent show comes along they cannot wait to pull it's plug. Screw NBC!

Give the show a chance. It is one of the better new shows. I look at the ones that make it and truly shake my head!!

This show and Maria Bello will be missed.
NBC and ABC rarely give their shows any time to develop. Then they wonder why their ratings are continually off. I never really allow myself to get hooked on a show from these 2 networks. This makes room for another Dance or Singing show.
I, too, would love to see this get picked up by USA.

Un-effing believable. We finally get a show that gives us the "punch" L&O-SVU had with Detective Stabler - a hard-edged, complex and entertaining detective.
NBC= NOTHING BUT CLOWNS.

Loved the show, which only got better with each episode. Bring it back. I watched all of the shows on it Thursday night schedule. They need to give shows a chance.

I am so disappointed that Prime Suspect has been cancelled. It was one of my favorite new shows. Great cast, great writing. I agree that it is a shame that the good dramas are cancelled while the reality junk continues.
