The new drama will return for a second season.
March 4, 2013
FOX announced today that it has renewed freshman series The Following for Season 2. The Kevin Bacon-led thriller has been a mid-season success for the network, already becoming this season's #2 broadcast drama in Live+7 ratings after its first six episodes. The show's solid ratings, combined with praise from critics and audiences alike, make it easy to see why FOX was quick to pick the series up for a second season.
Nine episodes remain in the first season of The Following. The number of episodes ordered for the show's next season have not been specified.
UPDATE: Season 2 of The Following premieres on Sunday, January 19, 2014 after the NFC Championship game.

I was extremely hesitant to start watching a new show produced by Fox, only because they have cancelled so many shows that I was completely hooked on... Prison Break, Black Donnelly's (LOVED THAT SHOW!! AARRGGHH!!),and a couple of sitcoms here and there. But, my temptation gave in because of Kevin Bacon. I'm so glad I did, because I love this show. It's gritty, intense and keeps me on my toes. I don't find it cliche at all. The concept of the show reminded me of the movie with Denzel Washington, Fallen. I love the not knowing which character (did I spell that right, Jim? Geesh) was a "follower." You suspect everyone! Love it. Fox, please do not cancel this show. I would like to also add that I know several people who have said they wish the show was on FoxOnDemand so they could start watching it. With the technology we have, why not give new shows the added chance of having it survive by reshowing episodes on demand for those who hear of the show later and want to tune in and catch up? Drives me crazy!!!! That's my two cents...

Just when I thought The Following couldn't get any worse, it got ridiculously mind-numbingly stupid. Who wrote this? Any common sense people?

Tried to like it because of a strong cast...but wow the writing is HORRIBLE! Completely unbelievable and poorly developed plot. If this class is highly rated it is revealing to the dumbing down of America. We no longer want any substance to our entertainment.

Funny...the reviews I read about the show all said the show was terrible and described as cliche.

How do good shows get cancelled and junk like this stays on? This show is terrible. The folks who say this is a thrilled must go to walmart for fun. This show stinks.

This is a crock of crap show. It started great then melted into this hot mess that each week becomes stinkier and stinkier. The FBI in this series is the most inept on any TV series ever. There are few redeeming qualities...if any. Please just make it stop!

Tbone: Did you really spell characters as "chareters" and either as "irther"?
