FOX announced today that it has renewed freshman series The Following for Season 2. The Kevin Bacon-led thriller has been a mid-season success for the network, already becoming this season's #2 broadcast drama in Live+7 ratings after its first six episodes. The show's solid ratings, combined with praise from critics and audiences alike, make it easy to see why FOX was quick to pick the series up for a second season.
Nine episodes remain in the first season of The Following. The number of episodes ordered for the show's next season have not been specified.
UPDATE: Season 2 of The Following premieres on Sunday, January 19, 2014 after the NFC Championship game.

Have really loved this show from day one, Bacon is great , knew going in it was going to dark with a lot murders but still Story line with Jake is great . Also another great shoe on FOX is Touch great concept love the chareters be a a

Pretentious, condescending, cliche, predictable, and running way too long. This should be a mini-series no a full-blown series. They are already beating dead horses and there are still 9 shows to go this season, and they want ANTOHER? They may say they want a second season now, but by the time they are done with this one, people will be more than tired of it.

I tried to watch this show. But, after the 2nd episode, I realize the show is actually venerating serial kills and glorifying gruesome murderers. I do not like wanton killings so why watch a show that portrays it as "entertainment". Bacon is awesome and every actor is great, but come on! I was hoping it would have been akin to Law and Order, whereby ONE act was committed and Bacon has to solve it. But, this is ridiculous and GROSS.

Every time the writers write themselves into a corner they use the "Deus ex Machina" ploy to get out of it: a follower pops up to save other cultists. It is getting old.
There is no reasonable plot, just multiple gruesome murders per episode. Out of ideas? Murder someone.

What a great show!! Kevin Bacon is great. Actually the whole cast is great and I am so happy that Fox is giving this show a second season to shine.
Look forward to this show each week. It is a first rate drama with many unexpected twists and turns...good job.
