TLC has announced that freshman reality series Breaking Amish has been renewed for a second season. The show had an impressive first run in 2012, becoming the network's best performing new series ever, averaging 3.2 million P2+ viewers.
In Breaking Amish, a group of young men and women from Amish and Mennonite communities leave their sheltered lives to experience modern, big city life. The show's second season will follow a new group of three women and four men. Production is set to begin this spring, with a premiere later this summer.
A spin-off series was also announced by TLC, titled Breaking Amish: Brave New World, which will follow select members of the original Breaking Amish cast as they reunite in Sarasota, Florida. That series will premiere on Sunday, May 12, 2013.
