The new comedy gets the early axe.
May 10, 2014
CBS has cancelled new comedy Friends with Better Lives. The mid-season series premiered in late March and is only five episodes into its run. Ratings for the show have been average thus far but clearly not at levels the network would like to see in its time slot.
The series marks star James Van Der Beek's second failed venture into television comedy in recent years. His last series, Don't Trust The B---- In Apartment 23, fared better but was cancelled midway through its second season.

Actually found this one funny. I liked the dynamics of the different relationships.. but I can see how it would not be for everyone. I would have loved it to be a "friends" like cast, but that may never happen again :(

This show was really funny. Cannot believe CBS didn't give it more of a chance. I believe a night with 2 Broke Girls followed by FWBL would have been a home run. I agree with the others, I really hope another network picks this show up, but it will only work with a live audience. I think that is what doomed Robin Williams' show. He is an actor who plays off a crowd and if the show could be re-booted, I'd have done it with an audience. Just my opinion...

I never thought this show had a chance so I let my TIVO record it though I never watched an episode. Why fall in love with something that they once again cancel? Well, instead of just hitting delete and being done with it, I just had to see James Van Der Beek's latest comedy so I did watch the first 2 episodes. That was a definite mistake. I would never have known they cancelled another good show if I had just hit delete. Now I am frustrated for another good show down the tubes.....

This show is soooooo funny! I would literally laugh out loud watching this show. Sad to see it go.. They always cancel the great shows and dont give them a chance.

Finally a sitcom that is truly laugh-out-loud funny and CBS cancels it? I agree with others who have made mention that another network should grab this show. It's smart, hilarious, and the characters are relatable and interesting - plus the chemistry between them is spot-on. I also am disappointed with the cancellation of Crisis...suspensful, great writing and, now, it gets ripped off the air?!! Do you all notice they continue to keep the "reality" show crap?

I loved this show! It was laugh out loud funny and the network didn't give it a chance. Great job by all actors and actresses. I hope another network is smart enough to scoop this one up!

Seriously funny show. Great cast. Original, fresh. Stunned it's cancelled. What dummy makes this decision? Are we going to be treated to another initial show....NCIS CIS, what ev.

I didn't like it, but isn't this a little premature --cancelled before a true period of testing?

I am sooooooo tired of investing my time and energy into shows that the networks only turn around and cancel. The people working at the networks are morons and they probably have not lived out here in regular people lives in order to understand what regular people like. CBS is usually pretty good but not on this one.

I wish Amanda's post had a like button.
I too am very disappointed this show has been cancelled. I thought it funny, smart and so entertaining. The "handy randy" episode was hilarious. With any luck at all, TBS or one of the other cable networks will smarten up and grab this one before it's too late.
