The new drama's future is in doubt.
November 26, 2014
It is being reported that FOX will be pulling Red Band Society from its schedule after the show's upcoming tenth episode. That will leave three of its already-produced 13 episodes unaired, with their future status in question.
The network has also declined to pick up a full season of the freshman drama, halting its production after the initial order completed filming. Low ratings have plagued the series since its September debut, making its prospects for a second season return slim.
As it stands, the December 3 episode is the last one currently on the FOX schedule.

Well so much for wrapping up the show so we could have some kind of closure!!! There are more cling hangers now, than 3 shows ago, and A NEW PATIENT was I introduced? REALLY.... What is FOX thinking... Or are you just not thinking at all. I have read over the other remarks and it seems the majority is in favor of bringing back RBS. My young teen daughter even joined the Facebook page trying to get the show back. @ Felicity on 1/29, I am sorry you have struggled for so long with illness. I am struggling with EBV and 4 other illnesses myself right now, and have lives my last 4 years with an IV in my body up to 3 times a week. This is REALITY we live in and we have to fight off the day-to-day issues we are dealt. RBS only lightly touches on the very harsh issues of life and I don't expect the show to be completely realistic. Why not show patients and our teens the issues they need to be acquainted with, but on a less harsh platform?? Nothing wrong with the medical issues, even the added sex and drugs, cuz the show handled those topics in a way that show our kids NOT to partake. Re: the topic of Emma, she is ILL, but is curable if she chooses to fight for her life. I think seeing these kids have illnesses and them not turning to depression and suicide because of it, is also a strong message to our kids to fight for their lives in all situations. I believe Emma and all those kids care about themselves and their issues, but the show allows them to care about each other too. They even love one another to keep it more light-hearted with a flare of humor in there. My daughter and I LOVE the show and hope it comes back.

I kinda get why they canceled this but when it was first premiring I heard radio previews all the time so I thought it was like this amazing pre teen- teen series. Turns out, it's just a glamored up show where nothing is even remotly real. I have a heart condition like Kara and I was very offended by the way they made it seem like she didn't even care about her life. Also Emma's anorexia was horrible, I mean seriously she's dying and she cares about a love triangle. This was also not "family friendly" if I had a nickel for every sex, drug, or I don't know TIME THEY MADE LIVING IN A HOSTPITAL LOOK LIKE A FREAKING DREAM. I was very dissapointed by the sheer lack of respect and concern about how this looks, I have spent 2/3 of my life in a hostpital and I really will not stand for it to look like some vacation.

Screw the Fox network for always canceling great shows. And ending a whole series on a cliffhanger for every major character? Now I can't ever move on with my life. At least show us the three episodes and wrap it up like a mini-series with some dignity. So unbelievable. Like taking a date to the carnival and then throwing them off the Ferris Wheel.

You should feel bad about taking this show off it is a wonderful show for all ages. The whole family can watch together it has good morals and values for young people you should give it another chance and more lip service. There are to many good shows being pulled and leaving all that crazy stuff that does't help structure young lives at all.

What a shame that Red Band is being pulled! It was so refreshing watching a healthy, upbeat show. We upper-middleagers love it, and got our teenage nieces hooked on it. This show is worth keeping. I agree work the others - give it more PR and let it develop a bigger audience. It's way past time to give those of us who don't like dirty, scandalous, violent action shows something decent to watch!

I really like this show. The characters are interesting and pull you into their stories. It is darkly humorous and quite entertaining. There is so much garbage on TV (reality shows) and cop/lawyer dramas. It was nice to have something unique for a change. At least let us see the last 3 episodes. Maybe you could put forth a little effort and keep it going for another season.

This is one of the best shows FOX has had for a long time. The characters are great and they pull you right in.EVERY time I like a show-it gets pulled.NOT FAIR to leave crappy shows on and take away enjoyable ones.COME on FOX-listen to the viewers.
