The new comedy gets the axe.
February 4, 2015
CBS has pulled freshman comedy The McCarthys from its schedule effective immediately. Since its October premiere, the series has struggled to find a sizable audience in its Thursday night time slot behind Two and a Half Men.
The move, which effectively cancels the show, comes after its 11th episode, cutting its season short by four of a total of 15 episodes ordered.

Too gay centered. Ya know the US population that self-identifies as gay/lesbian is less than 5%... why does EVERY new show act as if the gay population is 50% of their market?? And it's funny that they are all gay men.. there's no gay women in every show. I can't think of one network show with a lesbian in it. But I can name 10 shows with gay men... and flamboyantly gay men... always with the lisp and slightly effeminate. Not all gay men are OBVIOUSLY gay or overly effeminate. Seems the networks are desperate to air ANY show with a gay "twist" to it. Even if they shows are bad, such as the MacCarthys. It's all just pandering to a minute percentage of the population to APPEAR as though they are aware. Yet at the same time there are almost no shows featuring black, asian, latino, or american indian characters. All of which have a MUCH larger percentage of the population. Yes I know ABC is starting a new show with an Asian base.. and ABC has "Cristela" (Which is horrible). But that's 2 shows. Every other show in the past two years has had at least 1 gay male character if not being centered on gay issues entirely. The MacCarthy's could have been a decent comedy.. they just needed to get rid of the gay brother or at least stop making EVERY episode about him.

This show is actually very, very funny. Laurie Metcalf is absolutely brilliant and hilarious. The rest of it needs some tweaking, but she is stellar.

Another funny show I enjoy gets the axe. I guess CBS needs to make room for more Survivor/Amazing Race type shows.

Ugh, this is so typical! You have a really good and funny show and you cancel it before giving it a solid chance to gain some momentum. Such a shame about this one!

WHAT? This show is super funny. They should have played around with the timeslot. Super sad since I've been looking out for this show every week.

Glad to see not all the crap they throw at us sticks! Yet another family sitcom "The _____s" has bit the dust.
