The crime drama won't return for Season 2.

Fox has cancelled Backstrom after one season. The freshman crime dramedy was Rainn Wilson's first prime time starring role since his eight year stint on The Office. The midseason series started with decent ratings but lost a lot of its audience as the weeks went on, concluding at a series low on April 30.

Nice show...bad time slot...seems like the network genius machine would know how to move it to another night...the people that love Scandal and Blacklist will like this show...but not at the same dang time

It was an acquired taste -- and I had acquired it! The characters were memorable, the writing excellent. The finale was downright amazing. I know it's heretical to say this, but by the end I preferred it to Bones, which is getting a bit tired.

I thought this was a very entertaining show. I would record each episode and watch it multi times to catch all the quips and innuendoes . This was an awesome show. I pray some smarter network picks it up.

Fox, the same network that kept Anger Management on the air kills off this show? Backstrom had great performances, writing, characters and yet Fox won't let it build an audience...the networks will simply disappear and the smaller providers willing to take more risks and give shows time will hopefully dominate soon enough...come on Netflix and Hulu...time to step up.

I liked the show, but it was an acquired taste. Difficult for those kind of shows to succeed these days. Backstrom was also placed in an impossible time slot. Tough for any new show to gain a foot hold on a Thursday night. Might have been better suited for Mondays.

I'm disappointed,but not surprised that Backstrom was cancelled.I guess most viewers prefer cookie cutter tv shows,than something different.

The up front big city crime dramas that are all the same week after week - those are getting boring. This dark mix of characters with superb talent deserves another chance. The finale - performance of the star was beyond what we can imagine. It was a one man show that people deserve to see as the viewers need to know what a marvelous character actor is still capable of doing. Bravo! Hope someone picks this up......please.
