The freshman drama will not return for Season 2.
May 12, 2016
ABC has cancelled new mystery drama The Family after one season. The series premiered in March as a mid-season entry but drew less-than-stellar ratings throughout the course of its 12-episode run.
With its focus on the mystery surrounding the return of a family's presumed-dead son, it's unclear if the story line will be fully resolved during the series finale this Sunday.

Really upset they cancelled this show. I absolutely loved it. Reminded me of Twin Peaks. Great plot and direction. I thought Andrew McCarthy had a winner here. Dark mystery drama. Sad to see it go.

Your viewers have given their time to watch your show week after week, you could/should give us an ending to our story.

It's almost been a week, but I'm still so upset about ABC's horrible decision to cancel this show - especially after seeing the season finale. There is so much more to continue with!! I hope so much that a cable network will pick up "The Family".

I am highly disappointed this show is being cancelled. Its one of the best written show I've seen on TV in quite awhile. People obviously have no taste anymore.

I agree with this cancellation. I was hyped as could be for the premiere but the show just didn't live up to my expectations. I mean, there were so many subplots and so little interest. After a while I stopped caring to find out if Adam was Adam, and every character was written to painfully dumb. They took a good premise and burned it to cinders. Good riddance.

REALLY!!!???? ABC!! You cancel a well written show and still let Once Upon a Time drag on. Quantico wasnt cancelled either!!
yeah FBI trainees all look like models and run around showing cleavage and wearing skin tight clothes. The Family was sandwiched between the two and was the best of them both! The finale was excellant and I hope enough fans will demand a second season. As far as the other two shows I'm over them. No more ABC sunday night for me. I'll just watch my sunday cable shows instead of recording them for later. I even recorded Game of Thrones to watch The Family first hand! Thats how good I thought this show was.

Pissed! The show's cliffhanger was EXCELLENT but it needed to be wrapped up more tidy! Season 2 is warranted! Come on ABC!

I admit I reached episode 4 and didn't watch for a few weeks as it wasn't grabbing me. However I binged watched to the latest eat episode this week and throughly enjoyed it. I guess this has been the case with a lot of folk who dropped watching it. Very well written show. Great plot twists. I hope they give it a decent conclusion in the finale.

Once again the execs at ABC are showing what jerks they are. First they cancel Nashville and now they cancel The Family but they renew a piece of garbage show like The Real O'Neals. I just don't get it. I think I'll just start watching Netflix from now on instead of putting up with the network execs shoving their agenda down the throats of the American viewing public.
