VH1 has announced that Hip Hop Squares will be returning for a second season. The game show is off to a strong start since its debut on the cable network last month, premiering to more than 3 million viewers across premiere night plays. Its numbers make it VH1's highest-rated series in over a year, as well as the top non-sports cable show in its time period among ages 18-34.

Hip Hop Squares, which is a modernized version of the classic game show Hollywood Squares, originally started out on MTV2 back in 2012. While it fared reasonably well at the time, the show lasted just two seasons over the course of less than a year. Now five years later, this show is back in a new incarnation with Ice Cube as executive producer.
