The new drama will return for Season 2.
September 19, 2017
HBO announced today that The Deuce has been renewed for a second season. The good news comes the week following the drama's series premiere, which has earned early critical praise for its storytelling and colorful characters portrayed by its ensemble cast, which includes Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Franco.
Titled after the slang used by locals for New York’s fabled 42nd Street, The Deuce is set in and around Times Square and follows the legalization and subsequent rise of the adult film industry beginning in the early 1970s. With HIV and drug-related violence on the rise, two twin brothers start working for the Mob while operating out of Times Square, which is also home to a sex worker who starts working in the emerging porn industry.
Look for Season 2 of The Deuce in 2018.

This show is SO GOOD!!! I'm so glad they're giving it a second season! I was worried they were going to make a huge mistake by axing it like they did with Vinyl!

I agree with Cal 100% I just couldn't get into this show. I tried to, but couldn't find anything compelling enough to keep me coming back.

I'm trying to like it. I am a fan of most of HBO's shows, but this is not at the same level as others. Franco and Gyllenhaal should have never been cast in this.

It's interesting.. borderline porn about the birth pf the porn industry. Episode 2 had utterly HORRIBLE audio mixing though. Hard to hear conversations over ambient/setting music. If each episode has the same horrible audio, it'll be unpleasant to keep watching. The Pilot didn't have the audio issue.
