Oprah Winfrey Network announced today that Love Is _ has been cancelled after its first season. The news comes as somewhat of a surprise, as the cable network had initially renewed the drama for a second season back in July. Word is the decision was made due to allegations of domestic violence against executive producer Salim Akil.

Love Is _ was told from the perspective of present-day couple Nuri and Yasir, looking back 20 years to when they were both chasing their dreams in 1990s Los Angeles. Times were different back then, and who they are now reflects the way the social issues and vibrant black culture of that time aligned to shape them into the successful couple they eventually became.
