Eight episodes remain in the drama's final season.
February 9, 2019
AMC announced today that Into the Badlands will not continue past its current third season. The news was somewhat expected, as it has been nearly two years since its last renewal and the cable network has been mum regarding its future during that time.
The martial arts drama premiered in 2015 with a six-episode run that fared well, garnering generally positive reviews and solid ratings. An expanded 10-episode season followed in 2017, but saw weakening viewership despite continued critical praise. Season 3 debuted last year with an even larger order of 16 episodes, but with audience numbers falling even further, the likelihood of a fourth season became less and less of a reality.
The final eight episodes of Into the Badlands begin airing on Sunday, March 24 at 10:00pm before continuing in their regular Monday night time slot on March 25.

The first 2 season Into the Badlands rating was ok, but when season 3 get it going, the rating falls fast because maybe the storylines wasn't great to attracts the audiences. It too bad, the series could have gotten lasted up to 6 or 7 season. But not happening. I hope Daniel Wu (who played Sunny and also a directed and producer) can work it out for extended the series on Netflix. (longshot) Unless the series concluded on AMC.

It lost focus after season 1. Somehow it became just another post-apocalyptic drama.
But the fights were always impressive and you have to give kudos to the cast.

Like most of you, I really liked season 1 but, like most of you, the long gap between season 1 and 2 meant I was no longer vested in the story and didn't even try to watch season 2. I figured AMC, one of the better networks at replaying past seasons of it's own shows, would replay the first season leading up to the start of season 2 so I could remember what happened so long ago but they didn't and they lost me.

I loved the first season but with the large gap in-between seasons and the fact that the second one just wasn't as good in my opinion, I quit watching.

I really enjoyed this show. To me, this was the type of show I expect to see on AMC. Hopefully they will sell off the rights and it will get new life on one of the streaming services.

I’m not surprised considering how much time has passed since the last episode but I am really disappointed that AMC didn’t advertise it better. Its action scenes were awesome and I will miss this show

A fun show , i bet we do not get a finale, as those last eps were filmed long ago. I agree that splitting a show like this can kill it, amc split may havd killed many shows, at least turn got a ending.

Maybe viewership falls off because of the long time gap between seasons and few reruns. This causes not only the audience to move on but the cast and crew as well. It's difficult to pay the bills when you only work a few months a year.
