No Season 3 for the mystery drama.
August 5, 2019
It is being reported that Netflix has cancelled The OA after two seasons. The news comes five months after the mystery drama's sophomore run, which debuted in March. There were over two years between the release of the show's seasons, both of which garnered critical acclaim.
The OA stars Brit Marling, who co-created the series, as Prairie Johnson - an adopted blind woman who returns home under strange circumstances seven years after disappearing. Not only is her whereabouts during that time unknown, but Prairie now calls herself The OA, and has abilities she did not have prior to vanishing. While she keeps the details of her disappearance hidden from most, Brit confides in a group of five locals she assembles and asks for their help in a very important matter.

I have watched both seasons several times. When I first saw season one I began questioning this show, but then I watched it again and let myself open up to the possibility. The universe is vast and there is so much we still donβt know about life so open yourself to the possibility of βwhat ifβ. Itβs beyond reason, but is it possible? Maybe I saw it with different eyes after my mom died of cancer 2 years ago but there is more to this world than you know. Love you Brit Marling, you are a brilliant storyteller. Watch it again!!!

They must've got sick of paying big bucks to have people wave their arms around and make faces

The era of saving shows by switching networks seems to be coming to a end. Most saved or returned shows are all being cancelled , accept the expanse , for now. But few others last. Most lasted two seasons , will and grace lasted 3 though. However many older shows like alice are set to be rebooted, about 25 of them.

Only shows like GOT can go on a 2+ year hiatus and survive. Whoever produced his show totally set it up for failure. When the show came back it was hard to recall what it was about lol.

It makes no sense to me how they can cancel one of the most innovative shows in the recent years.
It is entertaining with writing and acting, and has a faithful fan following.
I can only hope it gets saved by another network.

...and I loved the way they put it all together in season 2. Very creative, we didn't see it coming.

@Cal No worries about Jim, he didn't even see the 2nd season, he just likes spouting unfounded opinions.

Hey netflix with you assholes losing more shows and viewers and money you need to do everything you can to keep viewers. Getting rid of so many shows and replacing it with ''reality'' shows is not going to do that. You guys are now no better than traditional tv now.
