It is being reported that ABC has cancelled The Proposal after one season. The news is not really a surprise, as there has been no word on the dating competition series' future since its freshman run last summer.

From Mike Fleiss, creator of The Bachelor, the series involved 10 eligible men or women competing in four pageant-style rounds with the goal of winning the heart of a mystery suitor. Only the daters who connect with the suitor progress, resulting in a dramatic reveal where the two remaining daters finally meet the suitor and present a romantic proposal of their choice.
