Netflix announced today that Special has been picked up for a second season. The good news comes eight months after the short form comedy's freshman release, which has been well-received by both viewers and critics alike.

Based on Ryan O'Connell's 2015 memoir "I'm Special: And Other Lies We Tell Ourselves", the series stars O'Connell - who also writes and executive-produces - as a gay man with cerebral palsy. Tired of endlessly being an intern and primarily communicating through text messages, he starts focusing on improving his life so he can embrace adulthood on his own terms as he moves away from his insular existence.

Another eight episodes have been ordered for Season 2 of Special, matching the length of its first season. Look for a return sometime in 2020.
