Word is out that Netflix has cancelled Astronomy Club: The Sketch Show after one season. The series' Twitter account confirmed the news with a message thanking fans and expressing hope that there will be more similar opportunities for black artists & comedians.
The series premiered in December featuring members of Astronomy Club, the first all-black troupe from the Upright Citizens Brigade. Sketches offer their unique perspectives that spotlight their smart and absurd brand of humor. Topics include a range of issues including race relations, the black experience, and attitudes towards African-Americans in the media.
Seems like a good time to mention #AstronomyClub was sadly not renewed by @netflix. Thank you 🙏🏾 to all the fans who watched! Hoping that more black artists & comedians are given the platform to have voices in the future ✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽 https://t.co/1yOtbBZQou
