The comedy will return for a second season.
July 10, 2020
Fox announced today that The Moodys has been picked up for Season 2. Coming seven months after the comedy's freshman run, the renewal is somewhat surprising as the show was originally billed as a seemingly one-off holiday event.
The first season of the show followed the titular tight-knit family of five who have all come together for the holiday season in their hometown of Chicago. Sean Sr., his wife Ann, and their three grown children all have their own eccentricities and complications, making for a chaotic and slightly dysfunctional time in the Moody household.
Season 2 will reportedly be shifting away from the holiday theme to focus more on the family's everyday lives. Look for a return during the 2020-2021 season.

Even though this isn't my favorite show, it's the type that can last a while. I predict it will be on for 9 seasons.

I liked the show..then again I’m a Denis Leary fan (for the most part). Anxious to see what they do in season 2.

@raylan125
They know they have more than 1 hour to air shows. One show gets cancelled because it is old and run its course. Another gets renewed because it has viewers. Most of the time the 2 are not connected.
This worked as a short mini series but if they give it too long a run it will fail.

They cancel good shows like Gotham and keep trash like this.

Well it had ratings , so it got renewed. I have not seen this and cannot make a comment on content though.

Totally lackluster show that did not deserve a second season in comparison to many of the very promising good shows that were dropped after their first season in recent times. The writing is so mundane in this show.

@I'mNeverWrong You nailed it. We kept watching it because we had made the investment in the first few episodes and hoped for a better end. This is not something that needed to come back for S2. :-( Happy viewing!

The who??? OH!! This was that short Dennis Leary Christmas themed show that was largely tedious and forgetful. Meh.. guess they needed to fill some time sots.
