No Season 2 for the fantasy drama.
September 21, 2020
It is being reported that Netflix has cancelled The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance after only one season. The sad news comes just over a year after the puppet fantasy drama aired its freshman run of 10 episodes.
The series, which acts as a prequel to the original 1982 Jim Henson movie, garnered strong critical praise upon its release. And just this weekend, it picked up an Emmy Award for Outstanding Children's Program.
Executive producer Lisa Henson hopes to find a way to continue the story. In a released statement she said, "We can confirm that there will not be an additional season of 'The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.' We know fans are eager to learn how this chapter of 'The Dark Crystal' saga concludes and we'll look for ways to tell that story in the future."
The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance follows three brave Gelflings from different clans who are on a quest to save their planet Thra. Together, they inspire a rebellion against the power-hungry Skeksis after discovering a horrifying secret behind their power. Now they must fight off the darkness and stop their planet's life from being drained.
You're just gonna piss off subscribers if you keep releasing shows that people love and then cancelling them after a single season.
"Oh our show just won an Emmy... let's cancel it!"
