OWN announced today that The Haves and the Have Nots will be coming to an end after its current eighth season. The news arrives ahead of tonight's midseason finale, with the second half of the drama's now-final season slated to return in May.

On the air since 2013, the series ranks as the cable network's longest-running drama and will end with an impressive total episode count of 196. It is the last Tyler Perry-created series on OWN under Perry's current deal.

Set in Savannah, Georgia, The Haves and the Have Nots follows the Cryer family, who appear to be the epitome of wealth and success. But behind the scenes, dysfunction threatens to destroy their privileged lives. Their maid Hanna Young had a troubled past but is now a woman of faith. But when she finds out that her promiscuous daughter Candace has stepped into the Cryer's lives, it turns her world upside down.
