Canada's Global TV has announced that Private Eyes will be coming to an end after its upcoming fifth season. The detective dramedy, which airs on ION Television in the US, will be wrapping up a successful run of 60 episodes that has resonated with audiences around the world.
The series stars Jason Priestley as former pro hockey player Matt Shade, who cuts his playing career short when he teams up with private investigator Angie Everett, working alongside her as a detective. The new partnership forces Matt to examine who he has become and who he wants to be while investigating high-stakes crimes. Together, the powerhouse duo challenge each other on the job and in their everyday lives.
The fifth and final season of Private Eyes will consist of eight episodes - its shortest run yet due to filming limitations caused by COVID-19. It will premiere for Canadian audiences on July 7.

I wish global would not cancel Private Eyes. Nice show that you can sit down and watch with your family and it is a CANADIAN SHOW. They are always talking about Canadian content and then they go and cancel it. But not surprising that stupid executives make stupid decisions. I suppose reality TV will take its place. If that is the case, I will not be watching. Hopefully, another network will pick it up if they don’t end the show with a death.

We love Matt shade. He and Angie are perfect together. Thus is one of the best shows from Canada. They should have ended with a mystery in every major city in their road trip to Vancouver !! A new mystery a province

This is a good show. I'm not sure what goes into making the bad decisions that tv executives seem to do more than keeping crappy endless reality shows on.

I cannot believe that Private Eyes is being cancelled!! Please do not do that!!! We love this show, and yet they keep the crap that no one watches!!!Love the storyline ,excellent acting, cannot wait each week to see this show!We tape it to make sure we don’t miss any episodes!! This is sooooooo disappointing! As Canadians this is our show!!! Showcasing a beautiful city and amazing actors actresses! Matt & Angie are great , all the actors brings something to this show to make is so entertaining !!

My mother and I are beside ourselves that Global has decided to axe a show that has done so well. To quote from Toronto.com "The show has also sold in more than 186 territories around the world and won last year's Golden Screen Award for Canada's most-watched series at the Canadian Screen Awards." THE MOST WATCHED SERIES!!! And to tell them after the end of the season. Not very professional in my opinion. I read it Global was looking at Reality Shows....really? My life is my own reality show...watching Shad & Everett made me smile and look forward to their next adventure. This makes no sense to me, the public, that supports their channel by watching. I won't be choosing Global in my next cable package if at all possible.

How can the big wigs decide to cancel a great Canadian show. I would hope that the audience watching sends in numerous complaints about their decision. Bad bad move on the decision to cancel this show which showcases Canadian talent and country. So sad!!!

Please reconsider your poor judgement when you cancelled Private Eyes. It is a great show and needs to continue.
