The Canadian detective dramedy will wrap with 8 final episodes.
June 11, 2021
Canada's Global TV has announced that Private Eyes will be coming to an end after its upcoming fifth season. The detective dramedy, which airs on ION Television in the US, will be wrapping up a successful run of 60 episodes that has resonated with audiences around the world.
The series stars Jason Priestley as former pro hockey player Matt Shade, who cuts his playing career short when he teams up with private investigator Angie Everett, working alongside her as a detective. The new partnership forces Matt to examine who he has become and who he wants to be while investigating high-stakes crimes. Together, the powerhouse duo challenge each other on the job and in their everyday lives.
The fifth and final season of Private Eyes will consist of eight episodes - its shortest run yet due to filming limitations caused by COVID-19. It will premiere for Canadian audiences on July 7.

Great Cast, Great Show. All the shows I enjoy watching are getting canceled.
Private Eyes has Good Storylines, Actors and Keeps Us Guessing. Hope to see more Angie and Matt Down the Road.

I just do get it. I’m very P/O that another Awesome show is being pulled from my viewing. I really enjoyed Private Eyes. A fantastic show produced in Toronto Canada….all of us Canadians can relate to the scenery on the show. I was also upset when Rookie Blue had the plug pulled. These 2 shows were ranked # 1 with me. If there is any chance to revoke cancellation please do it and let’s have a 6 th season and maybe get up to a 1000 show episode. Please have change of heart.

I am very angry that Global has cancelled this show, which is one of the few Canadian made series that I watch every week. The cast is wonderful, the plot lines are interesting and don't automatically reveal "who done it". There is a very diverse group of characters who's personal lives are also showcased which again lends depth to the plotlines. It also mirrors the much needed growing acceptance of ethnicity within the North American population. This is much more than a detective show. It is a brave attempt to show the cultural shift in our society but not in an "in your face" way. It's much more subtle and I hope that helps this change seep into some viewers subconscious in much the way "All In The Family" did nearly 50 years ago. I sincerely hope that another network picks this up if Global does not wake up and smell the coffee! And I haven't even mentioned what a thrill it is as a Torontoian to recognize different sites in my city that are often a part of my daily life. What a great ad for tourism for the rest of Canada and for the U.S. when the borders begin to open up again. Really bad timing Global!!!

Of course it was cancelled. They always cancel the great shows to make room for the poorly written, poorly acted and extremely boring new ones. It does make me wonder who is running the programming. Possibly someone that doesn't understand what entertainment is.
I agree, please reconsider your decision. We need more fun and interesting shows to watch!

So another of my favourite shows is gone. I'm quite angry about this one. I really enjoyed it and thought Jason was great in it. May have to watch netflix or some other provider. Stations wonder what viewer counts go down

An excellent Canadian show that showcases Toronto and our Canadian talent. It baffles me why the network decides to cancel it. That is so short sighted…

Please please please reconsider cancelling this excellent humorous show. It's so well written- so tired of reality shows taking over the airwaves!!! Who can we contact??
