The comedy will shift to films instead of a second season.
June 23, 2021
It is being reported that #BlackAF will not be returning to Netflix for Season 2. The news comes exactly one year after the Kenya Barris comedy was initially picked up for a second season by the streamer, but plans seem to have changed.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Barris revealed that while the show won't continue in the traditional format, it will instead shift to standalone #BlackAF family vacation movies similar to 'National Lampoon'.
In #BlackAF, Barris plays a fictional version of himself, and he and the rest of his family explore and navigate relationships, race issues, and culture while figuring out how to handle their newfound success in a modern world.

Stuff like this just perpetuates racism. NO one needs it. Blacks weren't on tv for many years (?) so now we get this? Blech....

@Love_Texas . . . Some really great shows are streaming originals.
I might make the argument that the current king of streaming shows is a tie between the Marvel Cinematic Universe TV shows they are showing right now and "Stranger Things". Shows like that could not really be made on regular TV.
As for Solar Opposites, it is very enjoyable and shares much of its fanbase with folks who are "Rick and Morty" followers, but it does indeed have a particular audience . . . It is definitely not for everyone.

Again, I really with Netflix and Hulu would dump the "original programming". Picking up Arrested Development and Lucifer to add to the seasons was very good. Otherwise, I am just not a fan of their "original content." The stand up comic *Specials* are OK too. So much of the original content shows are cancelled -- or things I have no interest. I cannot believe 'Solar Opposites' was renewed for Season 4!?! Someone must be watching? But not me, and I would prefer a lower monthly rate. Happy Viewing! :-)

So now netflix is doing what regular tv is doing and that is renewing shows only to later cancel them without any warning.
Now netflix is on their way to become traditonal tv.

Thank goodness this unpopular, unwatched property is going to have "standalone movies" so everyone can keep getting paid and money can keep being laundered.
