It has been announced that Happy Valley has been renewed for a third and final season. The news comes over five years after the acclaimed British drama wrapped its sophomore run.
The BBC One original series follows Catherine Cawood, a strong-willed police sergeant in West Yorkshire who is still coming to terms with the suicide of her teenage daughter. Divorced from her husband and living with her sister, Catherine is helping to raise her grandson while dealing with personal issues and fighting crime in the area that sometimes hits too close to home.
Six final episodes have been ordered to conclude Happy Valley, which will air its third season stateside exclusively on AMC+. Filming is set to begin in early 2022, with an expected premiere later in the year.

This is a great show. Just watched again the first two seasons.
The real reason for the delay was of the writer, Sally Wainwright. She was writing periodic episodes of Last Tango in Halifax and her big project, Gentleman Jack, was her first priority. She had been wanting to Gentleman Jack on screen for years.

ermm.. "couldn't get the actors together cause of Covid" --??/ what? Covid hit in 2020... what about 2017... 2018...2019??? Don't get me wrong I'm glad there'll be another season.. but come on., this loooooooooong delay was NOT "due to covid". Covid is not responsible for everything, even if it is now the go-to excuse for everything.

Love this show. Think they always planned another season but couldn’t get the actors together and then covid happened.

.. wow.. according to what I find it hasn't aired since 2016! As much as Americans complain about show hiatuses here... at least they aren't 5+ years long! :)

So happy about this! Love this show so much!!! It's a shame that there will only be three seasons though... it's so good!
