It is being reported that HBO Max has cancelled Made for Love after two seasons. The news comes less than a month after the dark comedy wrapped its sophomore run, with its May 19 episode now serving as its series finale.

The cancellation comes as somewhat of a surprise, as the half-hour series garnered high praise from critics and, per the streamer, it ranked as one of its top half-hour originals at the time of its last renewal. The move marks the second HBO Max original series to get the axe in the past week. 'Raised by Wolves' was cancelled last Friday, also after two seasons.

Based on the 2017 novel by Alissa Nutting, Made for Love stars Cristin Milioti as a woman in her thirties who is on the run after a decade-long marriage to a controlling tech billionaire. She soon comes to learn that her husband has implanted a surveillance chip in her brain that allows him to track her, know her emotional data, and watch her every move. Using the chip, he follows her as she flees to her hometown in the desert to take refuge with her aging father and his synthetic partner.
