It is being reported that Starz has cancelled Dangerous Liaisons after one season. The move reverses the early renewal the network gave the drama just last month, days before its premiere episode.
While Starz expressed confidence at the time of the renewal that viewers would be craving a second season, the show's ratings ultimately came in below expectations. The two episodes remaining in Season 1 are still expected to air as scheduled.
A prelude to Laclos' classic novel of the same name, Dangerous Liaisons focuses on the origin story of how the Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont met as young lovers in Paris on the eve of the revolution. Determined to right the wrongs of their past, the young couple must utilize their skills of seduction and manipulation, of not only the French nobility but of each other, in order to survive.

I watched the first episode and it was so unlike the novel I was turned off! I HATE when they try to "improve" a classic.

I like period piece shows, but this one was too boring.

.. saw it coming.. ya can't create a "period piece" and write things as if characters were living in 2022. I don't mean to shock anyone but ermm.. bigotry, racism, misogyny, etc. all were alive and thriving in the late 19th / early 20th century. Pretending they never existed is just stupid propaganda.
