No Season 2 for the legal thriller.
January 5, 2023
It is being reported that AMC has cancelled 61st Street after one season. The cable network has scrapped plans to air the thriller's planned second season despite filming already being completed.
In the show, the investigation of a deadly drug bust in Chicago triggers events that threaten to unravel the police department's code of silence. A casualty of this is a promising high school athlete who becomes a victim of the city's infamously corrupt criminal justice system.
The move is likely related to AMC Networks' announced $400M of cost-cutting on content. A similar situation occurred with 'Moonhaven' just last month, with AMC+ reversing its renewal of the sci-fi drama. With Season 2 of 61st Street already produced, it's possible that the show could resurface on another platform in the future.

@Steve, I know that she has ZERO sway.

Just because it is filmed does not mean it has been edited, scored, etc... may not have had the audio done in studio even... it's just in the can...
Also, screening it would incur more costs potentially with pay and the like...

@Genie - Not sure Jasmine has was much sway as you think. The show was mildly entertaining but didn't really warrant a second season.

AMC, just listen to jasmine and fucking air it!! She doesn't care about the show and never watched it to help with the ratings to help keep it on TV. Also, STOP EDITING MOVIES AND AIRING WALKING DEAD SHOWS!!!! Put it on tuesdays too!!!!

Enjoyed the first season. And if the second season is already made why not at least throw it on AMC+. Won’t cost you a thing it’s already finished. Kind of a shitty situation.

I was really enjoying this show. This is a real shame to hear, especially since it's already been filmed. The show was only intended to run for two seasons anyways. What's the harm in airing what's already been filmed?

If season 2 is completed, just fucking air it. AMC shows mostly edited movies and The Walking Dead and all the spinoffs to come, they can run this on Tuesday? PS I do not really care much of this show, but if it is filmed, show it.
