The streaming drama will not return for Season 3.
January 19, 2023
It is being reported that HBO Max has cancelled Gossip Girl after two seasons. The news comes ahead of next Thursday's sophomore finale, which will now serve as its series ender.
The show premiered in 2021 and quickly became the streaming service's best launch of the year for an original drama. Along with record viewership during its opening weekend, it was also a trending hit on popular social media platforms. While viewership numbers are not known, the series did not appear to carry its initial strong momentum into Season 2.
This version of Gossip Girl is an extension of The CW's pop culture classic based on the bestselling novels by Cecily von Ziegesar. The show follows a new generation of Upper East Siders who are introduced to unwanted social surveillance almost a decade after the original blogger's site went down.

I lost interest somewhere in the first season. The original is a classic, one of the few times I enjoyed the drama. Ended up watching them by chance, found the first three seasons in an empty apartment and didn't have cable yet lol. I started them and couldn't stop.

Who didn't see this coming? My daughter, who is 20, loved the original show. She tried watching this and said it was unwatchable.
