No Season 3 for the medical drama.
August 25, 2023
It is being reported by TVLine that Disney+ has cancelled Doogie Kamealoha, M.D. after two seasons. The news comes five months after the medical drama wrapped its 10-episode sophomore run on the streaming service.
An updated take on the 1989 TV series 'Doogie Howser, M.D.', the show follows 16-year-old Lahela "Doogie" Kamealoha, a prodigy living in Hawai'i who is working on juggling her job as a doctor and her regular life as a teenager.

Loved the show. It was a coming of age medical/teen dramady. Fun, with a few good lessons thrown in. Sad to see it go. Genuinely heart warming. I believe a lot of the remarks on here are just an over flow of how everyone's feelings about what is happening in Maui. It is absolutely tragic what is continuing to happen to the native people after the devastating fire. Please just remember this show was only created for entertainment and good hearted fun BEFORE this tragedy happened. My love goes out the the natives that have been displaced!

I am confused how the main characters being a mixed race family makes it racist.... The mom is from the east coast that marries an Hawaiian and has kids..
I am rolling my eyes at all the comments that just call it a cash grab or woke or whatever.. Doesn't even make sense, the simple fact that they aren't entirely white, makes it woke? Seriously?
in any case, I watched the show when it first came out and l enjoyed it. I bet it was another cancellation due to the strike and might have been expensive.

It is racist. And they had no business using Doogie's name to market this show. Its clearly supposed to be a race swapped reboot that uses Polynesian culture as a bargaining chip.

For those apparently confused, the show wasn’t a reboot of the original series. The main character’s nickname was “Doogie” because she was a young doctor like the character like the Neil Patrick Harris character. Like the original show exists as a television show within the world of the new show. So lit’s like “oh you’re a young doctor just like that Doogie Howser show” kind of thing.
I don’t know if I’m explaining this clearly. Also, it definitely wasn’t “racist”. That’s an absurd take.

Wow. I didn't even know this show existed. This seems genuinely racist. Why not just do a reboot of the original show if you want to use the name?? Disney is using Pacific Islander culture as a cash grab yet again. Trying to pander to a minority group and look "woke" to get their money. This is just blatant tokenism. Disney is a joke.

It wasn't bad from what I saw, but I really never got the show's premise. If you wanted to do something fresh that's fine, but if you are going to use the I.P. you really should at least have cameos from some of the past characters. Otherwise, it just comes off as a cheap cash grab.

My family actually really liked this show. The parents were actually two of the most likable characters I’ve come across in a while. It was nice having a family comedy show for older kids and teens where the family got along but wasn’t super corny.
Pretty disappointed honestly. Between this and Big Shots getting cancelled, D+ is really dropping stuff we enjoy.

First season was good, but the second season just didn't hit. Shame.
