No Season 2 for the historical fantasy series.
August 16, 2024
It is being reported that Amazon's Prime Video has cancelled My Lady Jane after just one season. The news comes less than two months after the historical fantasy series released its 8-episode freshman run. While the show garnered high praise from critics and viewers, it struggled to find a sizeable audience.
Inspired by the best-selling novel, the show is an alternate retelling of English royal history where King Henry VIII's son Edward does not die of tuberculosis, Lady Jane Grey is not beheaded, and neither is her rascal of a husband Guildford. After the headstrong Jane is unexpectedly crowned queen overnight, she finds herself the target of nefarious villains coming for her crown. Only now this damsel in distress saves herself, her true love, and then the Kingdom.

This is what happens when you introduce ads. People start sailing the high seas for content and shows get cancelled.

Religion was the big dealback then. race does not exist and the concept was unknown to them, race is a made up term. Biologically There is one race with different colors. But this was interesting and fun

This was a great show. Great imagination, dialogue and especially narration. Very sad to see it not continue.

This is disheartening, it was a funny twist on historical figures with a splash of fantasy added it. The costume department did a excellent job in this series! Maybe one of the other betwork/streaming services will pick it up! I was looking forward to another season!!

What?!?!?! I binged watched this and I fell in love with it. There were so many interesting mini storylines with her mom and sisters. I am sad they aren't going to do at least 1 more season.

That's a shame. This was actually a humorous little show. It was weird at first- what if animal shifter and humans lived together in Tudor England and people were more prejudiced on whether you were an animal shifter or not over your race or religion? So Mary Tudor was more concerned with removing animal shifters than Protestants. So it was an interesting alternate and fantasy romance retelling inspired by the story of Lady Jane Grey. Hmm, maybe it turned people off cause it used the name of real-life historical figures. I know it's based on a book series that does the same, but perhaps it would have garnered a large audience just changing the names and just using these story of Lady Jane Grey as the backdrop. George R.R. Martin uses really British history for his fantasy novels all the time and nobody cares. Just call them different names and put them in a made up kingdom but you can still keep the story about a girl and her new husband being forced on the throne so her female cousins wouldn't be. You know?

Didn't know the book or show but just slowly read the synopsis and then think how long could you really keep this story line going for multiple seasons.
