The British historical fiction series ends after one season.
September 6, 2024
It is being reported that The Winter King has been cancelled by MGM+ after just one season. It has been 10 months since the British historical fiction drama wrapped its freshman run on the streaming service.
Based on Bernard Cornwell's "The Warlord Chronicles" novel series, the show is set in the fifth century, before Britain was united, and follows Arthur Pendragon as he evolves from outcast to legendary warrior and leader in a brutal land of warring factions and tribes.

Didn't think it was the greatest show but with The Last Kingdom, the 2 Viking shows gone and House of the Dragon off for probably a couple of years I was hoping it would return.

I dunno. I thought this had potential. It was a but of a slow start, but I thought they had gotten set up so that season 2 might have a good chance of being really good. However, after waiting ten months without any word about renewal, I figured the odds of it coming back were pretty slim, so this news of cancelation isn't exactly a shocker.

The Winter King made King Arthur's story boring! Bernard Cornwell is a great writer, but this show was not The Last Kingdom, also a series of Cornwell books. I watched every episode of this show. I rated it a 4 on IMDB. That was being generous. Good riddance.
