The comedy will not return for a second season.
January 4, 2025
It is being reported by Deadline that The Franchise has been cancelled after one season. The news comes less than two months after the comedy wrapped its 8-episode freshman run.
"We're so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with the tremendously talented team behind The Franchise, especially Sam Mendes, Jon Brown, Armando Iannucci, and this hilarious ensemble of actors," said an HBO spokesperson. "While we won't be moving forward with another season, we look forward to collaborating with all of them in the future."
The half-hour series follows the crew of an unloved franchise movie who are fighting for their place in a savage cinematic universe, dealing with secret chaos inside the world of superhero moviemaking.

I am astonished to see how few people like this show. The episode with the Chinese tractors had me laughing out loud on the floor. The steriods and the sheep hair. The epiosodes were like a machine gun of jokes and witty remarks. I know these creators despise people with long covid and ME, like me. But if you are that funny, I am not gonna cancel you. I hope they get another shot soon

Pat did you not get what this show was about ? It was definitely poking fun at Disney marvel. I appreciate what they were trying to do but it was just not funny

It was sadly not funny, way too many scenarios happening too fast. I only watched 2 episodes and that was enough.

Too bad, it was funny, and among the total chaos one could hardly follow up the brutal jokes, also stellar cast!
