Netflix announced today that The Hunting Wives has been renewed for a second season. The news is no surprise, as the soapy drama has been a breakout hit since its July debut, spending five weeks in the streamer's global English Top 10 List, amassing over 20 million views in that time.

Based on the bestselling novel by May Cobb, the series follows Sophie O'Neil, a newcomer to deep East Texas who becomes entranced with seductive socialite Margo Banks, and her exclusive circle of affluent girlfriends, known as the Hunting Wives. But underneath the Southern charm lies a world of temptation and dangerous liaisons. Margo's magnetism and the group's intoxicating allure awaken Sophie's dormant passions, leading her down a treacherous path lined with jealousy, deadly suspicion, and murder.

Season 2 of The Hunting Wives will be a continuation of the storyline based on an original script, featuring much of the original cast. "I'm so excited to write these amazing characters again," said executive producer Rebecca Cutter. "And I can't wait to take the audience on another sexy, twisted, batshit crazy ride through Maple Brook."
