The veteran docuseries ends after nine seasons.
September 22, 2025
It is being reported by Variety that MTV has cancelled Catfish: The TV Show after nine seasons. It has been over a year since the docuseries aired its now-final episode on the cable network.
On the air since 2012, the show is based on the acclaimed documentary film of the same name, bringing together couples who have interacted solely online. Over the course of months, or even years, these romantics have seemingly fallen for one another - but what will happen when they meet in real life? In each episode, a hopeful romantic partner goes on an emotional journey to learn whether or not their significant has been telling the truth.
Word is the producers of the show are attempting to shop the series to other outlets.

Could not get more fake and scripted then this show. The only surprise is that it lasted this long.

It had become repetitive and you always knew it was going to be some alphabet person that we were supposed to all become a little more woke over.

They should rebrand it as Catfish Hunter, and get retired Yankee, Catfish Hunter, to co-host.

... because it wasn't a cheap syndicated show like Big Bang Theory or King of Queens. Paramount could not justify paying for new content on linear tv.

Why does it feel like this show had about 500 seasons?
