Showtime announced today that Dexter: Resurrection has been renewed for a second season. The news comes a month after the drama wrapped its 10-episode freshman run. In a post on the show's official Instagram account, star Michael C. Hall informed fans of the pickup via a video message.

"First of all, I just want to thank all the fans for tuning in and taking the Dexter: Resurrection ride with us this summer. Hope you enjoyed it," said Hall. "And secondly. We've been greenlit for another season. There's more to come. The writers room is assembling now and, details will be forthcoming. But I wanted to be the first to let you know that the story continues."

Set weeks after Dexter Morgan took a bullet to the chest from his son, Dexter: Resurrection follows Dexter as he heads to New York City, determined to find his son and make things right. But getting closure won't be easy. When Miami Metro's Angel Batista arrives with questions, Dexter realizes his past is catching up to him. As father and son navigate their own darkness in the city that never sleeps, they find themselves deeper than they ever imagined — and that the only way out is together.
