Peacock announced today that Twisted Metal has been renewed for a third season. The news comes less than three months after the action comedy wrapped its 12-episode sophomore run, which garnered an improved critical reception compared to its first season.
For Season 3, co-creator Michael Jonathan Smith is exiting as showrunner and will be replaced by executive producer David Reed under an overall deal with Sony Pictures Television.
Based on the classic PlayStation video game series, Twisted Metal follows John Doe, a motor-mouthed outsider who is offered a chance at a better life if he can deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With help from an axe-wielding car thief named Quiet, John faces savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown behind the wheel of an all-too-familiar ice cream truck.
