Fox announced today that Memory of a Killer has been renewed for a second season. The news comes ahead of tonight's season finale.
"'Memory of a Killer' has become a true standout with visceral performances from Patrick Dempsey and Michael Imperioli," said Fox TV Network President Michael Thorn. "Aaron Zelman, Glenn Kessler, and our partners at Warner Bros. Television have delivered a sharp, emotional character-driven thriller that's clearly landed with viewers, and we're excited to continue that success together in Season Two."
"We're thrilled Fox has renewed 'Memory of a Killer' for a second season, a richly deserved renewal given the show's great critical, creative, and commercial success," said Channing Dungey, chairman and CEO, Warner Bros. Television Group and WBD US Networks. "The performances of Patrick Dempsey and Michael Imperioli have been powerful and compelling, and we can't wait to see what the show's brilliant creative team has in store for Angelo's next chapter."
Inspired by the 2003 award-winning Belgian film "De Zaak Alzheimer," the series stars Dempsey as Angelo Doyle, a hitman leading a dangerous double life while hiding an even deadlier personal secret - he has developed early onset Alzheimer's. His oldest friend Dutch, played by Imperioli, is an accomplished chef whose restaurant is a front for a criminal enterprise.

I tried a couple of episodes but came to the conclusion the show has no soul. The main character is not likeable at all and has no redeeming qualities. I suppose it's kind of interesting to see how someone like him is dealing with dementia, but it's not worth investing the time required for a series.

Pretty good show, but I can’t figure out how the writers dig themselves out of the hole they made. Angelos illness is nearly to the point he can barely function at the end of season 1. He’ll be like his brother before long in season 2.

I found out it was getting renewed just as I was about to capture the final seconds on my phone!

McDreamy is now - McShooty - but with missing memories. What will happen next?

A guy executing people is a "emotional character-driven thriller" and a creative success? It's more a testament to the stupidity of the American people. It should get either the Pullit Surprise or the Big Dick Wolf award for garbage.

I have to say I like this show. I did not think I would. I have not been a fan of Dempsey in the past, but he is really good in this. I am glad to see it will be back. Good call FOX.
