Peacock Renews 'The Five Star Weekend'

The novel-based drama will return for Season 2.

Peacock announced today that The Five Star Weekend has been renewed for a second season. The news comes less than a month after the drama released its 8-episode freshman run.

Originally billed as a limited series, the streamer must have had a change of heart after seeing the show become its most-watched scripted series of all time in overall reach. Since its July 9 debut, it has garnered 2.1 billion minutes watched and ranked in Nielsen's top five streaming original series within its first two weeks.

"Audiences have completely embraced this wholly relatable story of friendship, and what it means to reconnect with the people in your life who truly make a difference," said Lisa Katz, president of scripted content at NBC and Peacock, in a statement. "A huge thank you to our amazing cast, writers, directors, producers and to our magical crew who all worked tirelessly to bring Elin's enormously popular book to the screen, and to the audiences who enjoyed watching this summer escape as much as we enjoyed making it."

Adapted from Elin Hilderbrand's 2023 novel of the same name, The Five Star Weekend stars Jennifer Garner as Hollis Shaw, a famed cook and best selling author known for her delicious recipes, impeccable taste, and warm demeanor. But a devastating loss leaves her unable to move forward, and starts to expose the cracks in her picture-perfect life - her strained marriage, her complicated relationship with her daughter, and her growing pursuit of validation from her fans. In an effort to overcome grief and find herself again, Hollis hosts a weekend away at her house on Nantucket with three friends from different stages in her life: her childhood, her twenties, thirties, and one surprise fifth star. During this weekend, the stars will mature in ways they could never imagine as boundaries are pushed and secrets are revealed.
