'The Rookie: North' debuts in January.
October 11, 2026
ABC announced today that a premiere date has been set for The Rookie: North. The new series premieres on January 6, following the Season 9 premiere of 'The Rookie.'
The new show is the second spinoff in the franchise. The first attempt, 'The Rookie: Feds,' aired just one season between 2022 and 2023 before being cancelled following the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
The Rookie: North follows Alex Holland, a middle-aged man who joins Washington State's Pierce County Police Department as its oldest rookie after a traumatic home invasion. In his new job he faces rural policing challenges while trying to prove he finally has something worth fighting for.
