A drama following a money launderer who moves his family to the Missouri Ozarks for his work.
Marty Byrde is a financial adviser who, until recently, lived with his family in the city of Chicago. But his other job as a top money launderer for the criminal underworld forces him to up and move his wife and kids to a summer resort community in the Missouri Ozarks. I live in the Missouri Ozarks and have a child that lives at Lake of the Ozarks where this show takes place. It captures the place and times perfectly. The Ozarks are a naturally gorgeous place with a long history and unique culture. We are experiencing the influx of a lot of elements and yes, the criminal element is among them and it is particularly strong at what locals refer to simply as "The Lake". Despite that, the Lake remains a stunningly beautiful and unique place and is frequented by people of all ages and incomes and that includes the super rich to the super poor and all mingle and co-exist. The Lake offers things for everyone. There are many family activities and if you're young and want to party that's available too. If you love the water, love boating and fishing it's excellent for those activities and the Lake has things all year round, not just in the summer months. It's also a major bargain as vacations go. Yeah, this sounds like a commercial and I guess it is. But really, if you like this show, come see where it is filmed. You'll have a great time.

Netflix, Amazon and Hulu...are the best things to have hit the TV scene...

Agreed, smart, well-written show that moves at a good pace. I'm a fan of Linney as well as Bateman, and these two should work together more often. Netflix has got some damn good shows.

This show just got on my radar. Jason Bateman and Laura Linney are great together, good acting.. I watched the whole first season and am hooked. Like Breaking Bad, this is definitively a hit that will last several seasons..
If Netflix keeps coming out with quality series like this, then HBO, Showtime, and Cinemax are going to suffer. Something has to give, such as a merger.
