After a year and a half on the air, Comedy Central has cancelled The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore. Executive-produced by Jon Stewart, the late night talk show airs weeknights following The Daily Show, offering host Wilmore's distinct point of view and providing an underrepresented perspective on current events and pop culture.

According to the network, the series didn't quite resonate with their audience as they'd hoped it would, both on its nightly airings and among multi-platform outlets and social platforms. At the end of the day, its ratings didn't justify ordering another season.

The Nightly Show will sign off this Thursday after two seasons and 259 episodes. Filling its time slot temporarily will be the Chris Hardwick-hosted panel show @midnight. A permanent replacement has yet to be announced.
