The talk show ends its run this week.
August 15, 2016
After a year and a half on the air, Comedy Central has cancelled The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore. Executive-produced by Jon Stewart, the late night talk show airs weeknights following The Daily Show, offering host Wilmore's distinct point of view and providing an underrepresented perspective on current events and pop culture.
According to the network, the series didn't quite resonate with their audience as they'd hoped it would, both on its nightly airings and among multi-platform outlets and social platforms. At the end of the day, its ratings didn't justify ordering another season.
The Nightly Show will sign off this Thursday after two seasons and 259 episodes. Filling its time slot temporarily will be the Chris Hardwick-hosted panel show @midnight. A permanent replacement has yet to be announced.

Glad... He was racist

It was bound to happen as the show had a tendency to be a slight bit blind to all sides of racial issues

This is a bummer! Larry Wilmore & his team provided a much-needed point of view. I really enjoyed the show.

Dang! I was just starting to really warm up to this show. It seemed they'd finally started to hit their stride within the past couple months. Anyone know what they're replacing it with?

the problem was that it was too close to Colbert (political talk show on at 11:30 was close enough) that it had the new host problem. It feels weird to fans of the old host and falls into the uncanny valley. Instead of comparing the same number of episodes people will compare the whole breath of the old hosts run to the few episodes of the new host.

I am surprised it lasted this long. They gave it more time than it deserved. I tried my best to watch it. I only go through a few weeks at most. The bad news is that it also made me give up on the Daily Show after Jon left. :(
