Prospects for another season of the superhero drama don't look good.
March 14, 2011
Fans of "No Ordinary Family" should probably prepare themselves for the fact that next month's season closer will also be its series finale. It's been a tough run for the freshman ABC drama since it debuted last September. Being slotted in Tuesday nights against some pretty steep competition, the show has always struggled to find a wide audience. And while there is no official word from ABC on the superhero series' future, all signs point to cancellation for the show.
Let's first have a look at the ratings. The show premiered decently enough with a 3.2 rating in the key adults 18-49 demographic, but quickly dropped off over the course of the season to a point where its most recent episode earned a 1.2 - far less than half of what it debuted with. That rating alone would be enough to limit the show's chances for renewal.

Then late last month, news broke that ABC had trimmed the number of episodes for the show's first season by two.
And if that wasn't bad enough, the series' two lead stars have recently signed on to new fall pilot shows on another network. Michael Chiklis has booked a role on a new CBS comedy pilot called "Vince Uncensored", while co-star Julie Benz has joined an untitled CBS supernatural medical drama. In both cases the stars' new projects are in second position to No Ordinary Family, meaning the superhero drama has priority should it be renewed. It should be noted, however, that stars of returning shows don't typically start booking other projects.
We likely won't know No Ordinary Family's fate until May, but as it stands now the show likely will not return when the Fall season starts.

I hope you decide to bring the series back to ABC. I and my family really enjoyed watching each and every episode. It actually is one of the only shows on television that we as a family watch together. It really sucks to hear about the cancellation. With so many shows now focusing on drugs, sex & violence. It was a relief to actually have a show that was about imagination! Something viewer friendly seems to be down played versus the shows based on sex, etc! I myself am really sick of shows like that. Why do people think our kids of this generation are so into sex, drugs & violence. Bring the show back! Give it another chance, please!

I hope you dont cancel this show. Michael Chiklis is great in all cop and superhero shows (i.e The Shield and Fantastic Four) Julie Benz is a great actress as well as did great as a speedster. Even her assistant in the Lab did a wonderful job. Why would u cancel this show when superheroes are at an all time high? You should make this a full time show instead of just once a week. I watched this whole first season in 24 hrs that a friend had tvoed. I was thoroughly impressed. The end of the first season is a great place to start from into a second season and beyond. Even (jims) partner, the guy from the 40 yr old virgin did good and he has powers now so lets keep things rollin... When you change things around so much is why ppl go to the other stations. Let people get into a show. Do reruns and show ppl what they have missed so they can catch up. I will be pissed at you ABC execs if you cancel this show. I loved it!!!

Wow are you serious? Like what possessed ABC to cancel this show? Like literally the only thing my step dad and i actually had something in common. Are you really going to cancel this show. Like you wonder why your ratings are SO LOW! b/c families/people expect your network to do something like this. I really hope you READ all these! Because if you want your rating on the show, base it off these few comment people leave saying"YOU SUCK", "You ruined good family time"...........so yeah...you do suck

I am getting tired of seeing good shows get cancelled. I don't get to watch many shows during prime time, but catch them on Hulu.com. I am about fed up with Prime Time TV. I think I will stick with cable channels at least they keep good shows running. A fan of No Ordinary
Family!

I was entertained by the notion that a normal family, inhabited super powers. The first couple episodes were good. But as it went on, the show turned away from it's roots and started to focus on battling other super powered villains. Don't get me wrong... It's fine to a certain degree, but the fact that some of the decisions made by the family, especially "Jim" on the what's important for his family, instead of what he wanted to do, was not reasonable. Overall, i give the show a 6/10. There's definitely room for improvement. The only 3 reasons I would like the show to return. I want to know what powers the baby and George has. And how Victoria's abilities changed. victoria

I looked forward to watching this show with my entire family (myself, wife, 5yo and 6yo kids). ABC I'll never watch your network again in protest. NOF was a clean, fun filled show. If the slot wasn't giving you the viewership you were looking for god darnit change the time slot. How do I explain to my 5 yo her favorite show is canned. ABC you suck, let me hurry and hop over to CBS, NBC and all others. I'll also start my little campaign letting all my friends and family members start making the transition of no longer watching ABC. Did I say ABC you suck and thanks for dissapointing my entire family!
