As expected, the superhero drama will not return.
May 13, 2011
ABC has cancelled No Ordinary Family along with six of its other shows in a barrage of moves by the network today. Also gone are Brothers & Sisters, V, Off the Map, Better With You, Mr. Sunshine, and Detroit 1-8-7.
The writing has been on the wall for quite some time regarding the superhero drama. After failing to impress in the ratings early in its run, the network cut No Ordinary Family's freshman season short in February, and even preempted its second-last new episode, only to air it on a Saturday with no promotion.
The final nail in the coffin came when its two lead stars signed on to new fall pilot shows on another network. Michael Chiklis booked a role on a new CBS comedy pilot called Vince Uncensored, while co-star Julie Benz joined an untitled CBS supernatural medical drama. The cast also took to Twitter after filming wrapped to say their final goodbyes.

My family has just finished watching all of season 1 of No Ordinary Family on Netflix and we loved it! Additionally we are disappointed to find out there are mo new episodes. I agree with the comments from othet viewers that people don't watch shows when they air. We watch TV as a family on the weekends with our children so we know what they are watching. Please bring show back for closure.

I've seen critics talk about the show's writing, but every time I see regular viewer's responses (like here) it seems clear that the reason the show wasn't initially successful was because of a lack of advertisement. ABC should look into why a show did bad before actually cancelling it. Maybe then they wouldn't piss off so many fans. I rarely watch tv for 2 reasons: time problems and nothing I'm interested is ever on. I think I found the true reason for that second one.

I just finish watching this show on netflix and really enjoyed watching it. I am also very disspointed to know that there will be know season 2. I totally agree with some of the comments I read as I dont thik this show was promted correctly as I never heard of this show before until I was trying to find something to watch on netflix. Please continue with another season as there are so many unaswered questions.

I started watching this show on Netflix with my husband and we fell in love with it! Watched all episodes in 2 days. I think this is where the problem lies. In today's technology era, not everyone watches television shows when they air. In ABC's eyes, Netflix is making the money off of the show, not them. After all, it is always about the money! ABC's biggest mistake with this series was lack of advertisement. I never once heard of this show until I was scrolling through Netflix one night because everything on standard tv seemed to be reality shows. Personally, I would rather turn to Netflix to be entertained than suffer through another staged reality show!

I agree with all the comments so far and just have to leave my own. Whoever is in charge at ABC needs a reality check in how TV is watched these days. Like fellow veiwers have said some people don't have the time to watch the shows when they air or record it later due to time conflicts. And still there are others who watch them On Demand, Netflix etc. I am sick of this network cancelling great shows. I watch many shows on ABC but don't think I want to get invested in any more of them because if I like it then it will probably be cancelled for example: V, Better with You and what seems to be the final nail in the coffin, No Ordinary Family. If you have to make a 'business' decision, at least have the decency to provide your loyal viewers with endings that provide closure/resolution rather than cliffhangers. If not, I think you are well on the way to losing a loyal fan base who is afraid to waste their time getting invested in your shows. So think about that the next time you give a show the ax before really giving it a chance. Or better yet BRING THESE SHOWS WE LOVE BACK ALREADY!!!!!! You may be pleasantly surprised.
