MTV has pulled the plug on the comedy after two seasons.
August 14, 2011
MTV has cancelled The Hard Times of R.J. Berger after two seasons on the air. The show's second-season ender that aired May 30 serves as its series finale.
News of the cancellation came from the show's creator Seth Grahame-Smith, who sent out a Tweet reading, "Well, it's official. #RJBerger has been cancelled. Thanks to the cast and crew for two amazing seasons, and to all the fans."
The comedy, which follows an unpopular but well-endowed high school sophomore, premiered in June 2010 and aired two seasons of 12 episodes each. Its second-season opener in March of this year followed Jersey Shore and drew and impressive 3.1 million viewers. Ratings fell during the course of the season, likely leading to MTV's decision to axe the series.
