TNT will not bring back the Jason Lee police drama.
October 14, 2011
TNT has cancelled Memphis Beat after two seasons. The cop drama, which starred Jason Lee, aired its last episode on August 16.
The series is the network's second recent drama to be cancelled - Hawthorne was given the axe in early September.

This was one of the best of all the cop type dramas. I sure hope someone will pick it up and air it again.

How could they cancel this show??
I hate the TV business. Hate it. These jerks care nothing for their audience - nothing. They ask us to invest ourselves in these characters, then unceremoniously yank the rug out from under us the second it doesn't realize an ABSURDLY high market/profit percentage. With all the media choices available to us now, they expect to get shares that exceed the targets they chased in the 70's, for cryin' out loud. Unrealistic, and a slap in the face to everyone that makes their careers possible (the execs/shareholders, I mean).
Shame on 'em for this one (and for Lie to Me... Human Target... Don't even get me started on Firefly...)
Humbug.

This is a bleeping outrage. This was one of my favorite programs and I can't understand the reasoning behind the decision to cancel. I have been watching more and more shows on USA, TNT, A&E and FX because the major networks have decided to dabble in crappy reality television programming. Ugh! Too bad. Memphis Beat was a winner with a great cast, great storylines and a strong, faithful following. Too bad TNT decided to cancel this program instead of The Closer, which I think stinks.

I cannot believe that one of the most interesting creative cop shows has been cancelled. Jason Lee and the cast were awesome each week. I hope that you will reconsider this bad decision.

Number one, the people making the decisions do feel that the majority of people watching are morons. They schedule reality garbage and the millions flock to it, so they keep scheduling more and more reality garbage. Number two, it is much cheaper to produce the crap than it is to pay actors, writers, etc. to do actual story based drama. And if you want quality, you have to pay for it. The people in charge are in it for money, they pay as little as possible, and pander to the moron factor in their programming. The sad thing is, they are right. If people would display intelligence and stop watching their crap shows, they would not keep them on. The audience of today (not the people on this board) want the crap, deserve the crap, and unfortunately for us, get the crap.

All I can say is that for us that like true drama, good acting, good story lines - we are the minority. There are a lot of stupid people out there that just want to see reality shows and shows without any substance and they seem to win season after season. It comes to a point where I am discouraged to watch new shows because most of them (if they are good) end up being cancelled. Over the years there have been many that were cancelled that if they had put it in a better time slot or at least were consistent with showing new episodes every week it would of done better. Sometimes I think the networks really DO NOT want us to watch. :)

Only show I watched on TNT. Gonna miss it and the great cast. Jason Lee is a very underrated actor.

I cannot believe you guys could be so stupid. Real acting, great plot, great supporting cast....need I say more about stupid when you cast off Memphis Beat and keep a dung heap like Pretty Little Liars? Give me a break!
