Prime Video announced today that a premiere date of April 17 has been set for its reboot of American Gladiators. It's the latest incarnation of the iconic physical competition series that originated in 1989.
Each episode of the show features amateur male and female contenders from across the nation stepping into the Arena to face 16 powerful new American Gladiators. From classic events like Joust, Powerball, Hang Tough, and The Wall, to high-impact new events including The Ring and Collision, every showdown demands strength, strategy, and pure grit. Only one man and one woman will conquer the Arena, claim $100,000, and earn the title of American Gladiator Champion.
The first three episodes will release on Friday, April 17, followed by three new episodes releasing Friday April 24, and the final four episodes releasing on Friday May 1.

UK Gladiators is just as horrid as the US version.

The UK version is great. If you want to watch a reboot watch that one. The USA version of everything sucks, Traitors UK which is the OG is 1000x better than USA, Claudia is a much better host too.

@Mael .. you are misremembering ... EVERY iteration of this show has been relatively the same. All of them. Every single one... more commercials, "backstory", and "Gladiator promo", than competition. No version, in any year, was a straightforward competition show. (There has been a reboot attempt already.. '89 original,, '08 reboot.. now this..)

I would be excited if it was like the original. Every reboot I've seen has been horrible and couldn't make it past one or two episodes. I looked to see if there was an actual video of it since we are four weeks away before I added it to my check it out list and there is no footage other than still frame shots. I see The Miz is one of the hosts, which immediately makes me know this is going to be another bad reboot.
Maybe I'll be wrong and I hope I will be, but everything he's been part of has been about showboating and arrogance and not skill, which has described every reboot of this. If I remember the original one correctly there was a little bit but it was mostly about skill.

Will it be 35 minutes of commercials, 12 minutes of backstories regarding people NO ONE cares about, and 13 minutes of actual competition, like the old show was?
